Have you registered for the Braille Readers are Leaders contest? Want an
incentive to read even more?
The NFB of Nebraska Lincoln Chapter is awarding two prizes to Nebraskan's
that read the most during the contest period.
What will you win?
First place: $100 cash and a braille Rubiks Cube
Second Place: $50 in cash
Minutes read must be sent to

No later than February 1, 2025. If using Beanstack to track your minutes,
proof of minutes read through screen shot may be required.

Braille Readers Are Leaders
Braille reading students, adults, and teachers of the blind across the U.S.
compete against other participants in similar contest categories for seven
weeks! Sponsored by the American Action Fund in partnership with the
National Federation of the Blind, the contest begins December 2, 2024, and
will run through January 17, 2025. We are using the platform, Beanstack, to
register and to log your minutes of reading. There are badges to earn,
prizes to win, and lots of Braille to read!
General Contest Information
* Purpose: to promote the joy of reading for pleasure; to promote a
pride in Braille as a viable literacy medium equal to print; and to
demonstrate the importance of independent reading in the development of
Braille literacy skills.
* Eligibility: blind and low-vision Braille-reading students, adults,
and teachers of blind students.

Registration for the 2024/2025 contest is open.

Summary of Important Dates
* November 15: Registration is open: create your account and register
for the contest.
* December 2: The beginning of the contest and the first day
participants can count log their minutes.
* January 17: The end of the contest, the last day participants can
track and add more minutes, and the last day to submit a registration form.
* January 24: All minutes read during the contest period must be
logged on Beanstack by 11:59 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
* March 2: Live virtual event/winners notified.
* March 2: Prizes will be mailed out.
