We are excited to announce that in support of New York Vision Week, on
October 20 Google and City University of New York Baruch College
Computer Center for Visually Impaired People (CCVIP) will jointly
organize an event at Google building in New York City titled "Tech
Demo and Career Mentoring Day".
Please note that online application deadline is October 17 9PM. Please
visit www.visionweek.org to fill out online form.
At this one-of-a-kind event you will:
- Listen to welcome remarks, presentations by Google staff and speech
by CCVIP Director Dr. Karen Gourgey
- Get a demo of the latest accessible features in Chrome, Google Docs
and Google's screen reader ChromeVox to enhance your productivity in
school and at work
- Receive career advice from Google employees including blind and low
vision employees
- Get an exclusive look inside Google's famously unique office that
features various themes from jungle and caves to Legos and play room
- Walk through a historic tour of computers from the 1950s to this decade
- Lunch at Google's famous all-you-can-eat cafe with more choices than
you can possibly imagine
Event Details:
- Date: October 20, 2016 Thursday
- Time: 9:30AM to 2:30PM
- Location: Google New York City office, 111 8th Avenue, New York, NY
10011 (between 15th and 16th Streets, on the west side of 8th Avenue)
- Target audience: Blind and low vision individuals. College students,
professionals and jobseekers in any field are encouraged to apply.
Professionals in the rehabilitation and special education fields also
welcome!
- How to apply to attend: Visit Vision Week website at
http://www.visionweek.org and go to the Google CCVIP event page to
fill out the short online sign up application form
- Application deadline: Online application must be received by October
17 at 9PM.
IMPORTANT: We expect large volume of applicants. Space is limited and
only a small number of applicants can attend.
Individuals selected to participate in the event will receive an email
on October 18 or October 19.

City University of New York Baruch College Computer Center for
Visually Impaired People (CCVIP) offers state-of-the-art technology
training for blind and low vision students, adults and seniors at its
Manhattan location, at client sites, 1-on-1 remotely by phone and
online. In addition, Every month CCVIP Open House welcomes all blind
and low vision individuals; every quarter CCVIP Demo Center offers
free technology workshop; the center's usability service advises
organizations on web and technology accessibility solutions; and every
year in the spring its annual conference attracts hundreds of blind
