*Sitting and Adaptive Volleyball Programs*

The Garden Empire Volleyball Association (GEVA) has developed its first
official paravolleyball program. In its continued efforts to increase
membership and create more opportunities to grow the sport, the Sport
Development Committee is focusing its efforts on providing institutions,
clubs and schools the resources, education and guidance they need to
provide these services to an underserved community.

Paravolleyball is divided into two major disciplines: sitting and standing.
Competition is open to male and female athletes with physical disabilities,
such as amputation/limb loss, spinal cord injury/wheelchair-users and
cerebral palsy/brain injury/stroke. Paralympic volleyball follows the same
rules as its non-disabled counterpart with a few modifications to
accommodate the various disabilities.   Please see attached flyers for more
information.

Actions, Big Changes*

Join Het Desai-Shah, PhD candidate in Nutritional Sciences as she discusses
the benefits of vegetarian diets. The effects of vegetarian diets far
exceed the well-known nutritional benefits on one’s health. Research shows
that eating a more plant-based diet can also lower carbon footprint and
global warming. The aim of this session is to discuss why and how we can
eat more plant-based foods.
