Dear Federation Family,

As we welcome fall later this week, we have a ton of Federation activity
happening. I continue to work to make sure our affiliate leaders are in the
loop and feel supported. Having said that, if there are things you need,
please remember that this organization operates from the bottom up. At the
national level, we want to build strong and healthy affiliates in order to
best advance our national agenda.
Critical Actions: Strategic Planning Survey Open this Week:

As mentioned in the September Presidential Release
<http://nfb.org/resources/publications-and-media/presidential-releases>,
the National Federation of the Blind is working on our strategic planning
for the organization. An important survey to gather data was launched on
September 19 and will be available through 25. This is a short window, but
the data is valuable to the process. We want to hear from you. Thank you
for helping with this process. Please complete the survey online or via
phone now <https://nfb.org/civicrm/event/info?&reset=1&id=538> and share
with members. Please note: We are also interested in capturing feedback in
this effort from members of the Federation community who primarily engage
in Spanish. To effectively focus our outreach, we will be offering a
Spanish version online and via phone the week of September 26-October 2.
News: September 20, Is National Voter Registration Day:

Voting in any election is important because it provides blind and
low-vision citizens with the opportunity to voice their opinion about
elected leaders and policies and to help shape the future by electing
candidates who share their views. We encourage all blind people to participate
in the American democracy
<https://nfb.org/programs-services/center-excellence-nonvisual-access/national-center-nonvisual-election-3>.
To vote in elections, a blind or low-vision citizen must first register
with their state or district board of elections. Get #VoteReady! Learn what
is needed to register
<https://www.eac.gov/voters/register-and-vote-in-your-state>. Blind
Equality Achievement Month idea: Host a voter registration drive using
