Every July is Disability Pride Month, a worldwide observance holiday which
promotes awareness of the community, the culture and the positive pride of
the over 1 billion people with disabilities around the globe.
It is also the time to celebrate the passage of the Americans with
Disabilities Act and to highlight the history, achievements and experiences
of people with disabilities as well as their efforts to challenge
stereotypes and discrimination.
This month’s panelists are all individuals who are blind, who will each
share empowering information as well as their own personal Disability Pride
message.
Panelists:
Vito J. DeSantis, Retired U.S. Army Captain and Executive Director, CBVI;
Currently Chair of the State Rehabilitation Council
Edward Sroczynski, Supervisor of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, CBVI
Michael Outwater, Community Activist and CBVI ASPIRE Peer-Support Group
Facilitator
Joseph Zesski, Assistant Director, Northeast ADA Center
Joanna Benthall, First Blind Person to Earn the National Child Development
Association Credential and who is also featured in a Visions Documentary
