This month’s conference call will open with an extremely important
presentation on interpersonal violence, which is defined as when anyone
uses power and control over someone through physical, sexual or emotional
threats or actions, economic control, isolation or other kinds of coercive
behavior.

This will be followed by an explanation of the role of the NJ Adult
Protective Services and other resources available to assist in the
stabilization of personal crisis.

Keynote Presenter:
Colleen Roche, Co-Founder, NJ Disability Collaborative - For nearly two
decades, her work has centered on raising awareness of disability rights
and increasing access to domestic violence and abuse-related services for
the disabled.

Resource Presenter:
Sonia Aufiero, Supervisor, Bergen County Adult Protective Services

The benefits of networking and sharing information are the primary focus of
the Community Connection Conference Calls. This month’s “In Our Own Voices”
panelists, all members of New Jersey’s blind, deaf-blind and visually
impaired community, will share their stories.

In Our Own Voices Panelists:
Arneesha Spruell
Jonathan Aguilar
Marie Sawyer
Steven McCoy
Stephanie Levin
Jessica Sisco
