Happy Monday, fellow Federationists!
The scholarship committee is excited to announce the 2024 National
Federation of the Blind of New Jersey scholarship class! This class is one
of our most diverse classes yet, including undergraduate and graduate
students, students from 2 and 4 year institutions, and majors running the
gamut from teaching to mountain studies as well as two national scholarship
winners. None of this would have been possible without the generous
benefactors, including the chapters that fundraised to create a
scholarship. Please join me in giving thanks to these benefactors and
congratulating our winners on their accomplishment!
Scholarship Winners:
Krystle Allen* of Newark is studying Social Work and Disability studies at
Rutgers University Newark and is the recipient of the Northern chapter
scholarship.
Antonio Izzo of Freehold is majoring in Business Administration at
Brookdale Community College and is the recipient of the Northeastern
chapter scholarship.
Madeline Mau of Princeton Junction is majoring in Music Technology at New
York University and is the recipient of the Klaus and Michelle Zechner STEM
scholarship.
Elizabeth Miner of Summit is completing her Master’s in Teaching with a
focus on social studies and secondary education at Liberty University and
is the recipient of the Altman scholarship.
Henry Young* of Cranford is majoring in History and Mountain studies at the
University of Montana and is the recipient of the Ed Latero memorial
scholarship. Henry has previously received an NFBNJ scholarship, which
earns him the additional honor of being a Ruffalo scholar.
