<DIV>Greetings, NFBNJ members,</DIV>

<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We have heard from NFB's National Governmental Affairs Office that
New</DIV>
<DIV>Jersey Senator Corey Booker is being pressured by shopping centers and
other</DIV>
<DIV>businesses to introduce a Senate version of HR 620, the ADA Education
and</DIV>
<DIV>Reform Act. As you probably know, NFB, along with every other
disability</DIV>
<DIV>advocacy group, opposed HR 620, which unfortunately passed in the
House of</DIV>
<DIV>Representatives, and we need to try to dissuade Senator Booker
from</DIV>
<DIV>supporting similar legislation in the Upper Chamber.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The ADA Education and Reform Act would force a person with a disability
who</DIV>
<DIV>has been denied access to a public accommodation to first dotify
the</DIV>
<DIV>offending business within two months. The business would then have
an</DIV>
<DIV>additional two months not to fix the violation, but to make
"substantial</DIV>
<DIV>progress" toward addressing it before legal action could be taken.
This</DIV>
<DIV>means that a barrier to equal accommodation could remain in place for
an</DIV>
<DIV>additional 120 days with no guarantee that it would be fully remedied.
This</DIV>
<DIV>would completely gut the Americans with Disabilities Act, a law that
has</DIV>
<DIV>been around for 27 years, and would allow discrimination of the
disabled
by</DIV>
<DIV>the business community. For the blind, this would include such things
as</DIV>
<DIV>continued inaccessibility of online shopping and banking sites, loss
of</DIV>
<DIV>privacy regarding medical information, and the inability to order from
a</DIV>
<DIV>restaurant menu independently.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We are asking all NFBNJ members, family, friends and neighbors to
call Senator Booker to express your</DIV>
<DIV>opposition to the introduction of this legislation. The phone number
