pm.
</DIV>
<DIV>Jane thanked Les Cameron for assisting her with the reminder
calls.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>3. Welcoming remarks and phone etiquette: Jane Degenshein</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>President Jane Degenshein welcomed all to the call. To help with roll
call
</DIV>
<DIV>please have phone silence once you have connected to the conference
call
and </DIV>
<DIV>given your name. Roll call is important and it is extremely difficult
to
get </DIV>
<DIV>everyone’s name with side conversations going on. If the conference
call is
</DIV>
<DIV>already in progress when you connect please wait until the end of the
</DIV>
<DIV>segment before announcing yourself. Mute yourselves after the treasurer’s
</DIV>
<DIV>report by pressing star 6. You will hear muted if done correctly. Star
6
</DIV>
<DIV>again to un-mute yourself when needed. Hold all questions until the end
of
</DIV>
<DIV>each agenda item or when the floor is opened for questions. Also,
announce
</DIV>
<DIV>yourself by giving your last name if you want to speak, wait to be
</DIV>
<DIV>recognized and then you may have the floor. Do not interrupt
individuals
who </DIV>
<DIV>are currently speaking. It is very important to keep comments and
questions
</DIV>
<DIV>brief and specifically on the current topic -- remember others also may
want </DIV>
<DIV>the floor to speak. Wait for the call moderator to move from one agenda
item </DIV>
<DIV>or topic to the next. Non Agenda items can be discussed during round
the
</DIV>
<DIV>phone or after the conference call has been adjourned. Thank you in
advance
</DIV>
<DIV>for your cooperation and understanding.</DIV>

<DIV>6. Guest : Denny Huff</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Jane Degenshein introduced Denny Huff to us and stated that he will
share
</DIV>
<DIV>about the list serve and at the end of his talk, he will take a Q and A
</DIV>
<DIV>session.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>In his introduction, Denny Huff stated that he lost his sight at age 24
when </DIV>
<DIV>a truck tower blew up on him. He started his company, Gateway for the
Blind
</DIV>
<DIV>in 1995 and did computer training in Jefferson, Missouri. This training
</DIV>
<DIV>covered Microsoft products. He started the iDevices listserv in 2001
where
</DIV>
<DIV>people can discuss questions about the iPhone and various apps. Denny
Huff
</DIV>
<DIV>suggested that people use Seeing AI and another app called Speech
Stickers.
</DIV>
<DIV>A person can use Pen-Friend labels to list products and the Digit-eyes
app
</DIV>
<DIV>can print out the labels. A person can make bar codes out of these
labels
</DIV>
<DIV>and use them to read products with their iPhone. To join Denny Huff’s
</DIV>
<DIV>iDevices listserv, send an email to
idevices-join@gatewayfortheblind.com.
</DIV>
<DIV>For more information, listen to the playback recording of Denny Huff’s
</DIV>
<DIV>speech at <A
href="https://fccdl.in/RyEq7bWaw1">https://fccdl.in/RyEq7bWaw1</A>.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Samson Carr asked about the cost of receiving private training, and
Denny
</DIV>
<DIV>Huff said it depended on what the person wanted to learn.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Someone asked how busy the iDevices listserv was and Denny Huff said it
gets </DIV>
<DIV>15 to 20 messages a day.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Ellen Sullivan asked Denny Huff if he still hosted the listserv on
office
</DIV>
<DIV>products and he said it was still in existence.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Samson Carr asked Denny Huff if someone had to be referred by an agency
like </DIV>
<DIV>a commission for the blind for training. Denny Huff said yes but the
</DIV>
<DIV>training is only available to those who live in Missouri.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Laurie Neidhart asked Denny Huff how she can contact him and he gave
out
his </DIV>
<DIV>phone number which is 314 2873333.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>All were thankful for his time and information.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
