Several members of the Rose City chapter will be volunteering as "intersection superheros" at the Northeast Portland Sunday Parkways, sponsored by the City of Portland. The description from the website describes it as: "Sunday Parkways promotes healthy active living
through a series of free events opening the city's largest public space
- its streets - to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation
while fostering civic pride, stimulating economic development, and
represents the community, business, and government investments in
Portland's vitality, livability, and diversity." <br><br>Our role will be to escort neighbors safely who need leave the carfree area in their vehicles, or return to their homes if need be since roads will be closed to vehicular traffic. In addition, we will be located right next to the busy stream of happy cyclists and pedestrians taking advantage of the car-free streets, who will hopefully stop by our table to rest and chat. <br>
<br></div>Everyone is welcome to come and hang out - hopefully it will be a beautiful day! We will have a table (and some camp chairs) set up with an NFB banner and braille cards to give away at the intersection of NE Durham and NE Lenore near Woodlawn park from 10:00AM until 4:00PM. The Trimet number 75 bus stop at Dekum and Claremont or the number 8 stop at NE 15th and Junior are both within 2 blocks - call Jim, Lindsey, or Heather if you need further details (my number is 503-504-9294).<br>
