Here’s an article on business pages. Too much conflicting info for me. But I do want to be sure we stay within FB rules.

This sounds like a very reasonable solution.

Facebook requires pages be associated with people. The way we’ve handled this at the Corvallis Montessori School is to create a FB account for the school (as if the school is a person). The password is shared among admin staff so we all can administer and post and create events and ads. The password is changed when staff move on, so only current staff have access.

I am not entirely pleased with either option. Is there not some way to make the page permanent, not attached to any person’s personal page? What happens if the personal page disappears and/or that person moves on – eg Kristen gets appointed to the US Supreme Court or Natalie wins the lottery and moves to Majorca? We are planning to work hard to get this page really noticed. If we cannot somehow magically transfer all that love to a different page, we would get to start over.
But if an independent FB page is not possible, I will agree with Kristen. It should be part of the LB chapter president’s role imho.

Hi Natalie,
Thanks for taking on the FB admin role. I think we should keep the current page with the likes and the name. I think creating more posts and such will drive more traffic our way over time. If you have time this weekend to walk me through the admin switch, let me know. I’m not FB saavy at all.

Hi All,
I looked into creating an FB account for our chapter and then using that to create a page, however, in looking into that process more as well as peeking at other NFBO chapters, it makes the most sense to just admin the page from someone’s account.
So we have two options:
1. The current page on Kristen’s page gets either transferred to my account or she adds me as an admin to the page.
Pros:
Keep existing likes/followers/info
2. We remove that page and establish a new one on my account.
Pros: Kristen doesn’t have to transfer over the page
Because I have way too much time on my hands, I went ahead and created a page on my account and filled in some info as a draft.
You can visit the page here:
http://Fb.me/linnbentonblind
Alternatively the existing page can be visited at:
http://fb.me/linnbentonchapter
I’m fine with either option, but would love to get going with this project, so would love a decision by everyone so I can get started.
Happy Friday!
Natalie
