My apologies. Again, I didn't get all of the minutes in the attachment. I'm
pasting in here instead.
Linn-Benton Chapter Minutes; December 27, 2021
Zoom Meeting; 6:30pm
Present at the meeting were;
Kristen Jocums, John Gardner, Carolyn Gardner,
Andrea Barnhurst, Natalie Charboneau, Arona Rosegold, Sally Utt
PRESIDENTIAL RELEASE
The plan was to listen to the Presidential Release as a group, but because
of time constraints, we agreed to have Kristen send the link out to the
group to listen individually. Kristen did go over the main topics of the
Release with the group.
MINUTES
John moved to approve the November minutes, and Andrea seconded the motion,
and the minutes were approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
There has been no change in our account over the month of December, so our
Checking balance remains at $1,486.14,
and the Savings balance remains at $5.00.
Arona moved to accept the December treasurer's report, and John seconded the
motion, and the treasurer's report was accepted.
OLD BUSINESS
1.Linn County Right of Way
Andrea reported on the progress of "Linn County Right of
Way".
An analysis committee has hired a company to analyze all of the aspects of
"right of way" in Albany..
2.Dial-A-Bus
John reported on the funding of Dial-A-Bus, and finances there currently.
And there is plenty of funding available for DAB moving forward,, as long as
it is properly allocated.
STAC (Special Transportation Advisory Committee) and
STIF (State Transportation Improvement Fund)
STAC and STIF are 2 committees which are involved with allocating funds for
transportation. The STAC allocates the funding of ADA Paratransit
operations. The STIF encompasses the funding of all aspects of
transportation, which includes the funding of BAT and DAB. These 2
committees will eventually merge into one group. We would like to have
representation of NFB on both committees. It is not clear if the STAC is
actually a functioning committee at present.
NEW BUSINESS
ACCESSIBLE PARK
Corvallis Parks and Recreation is in the process of submitting a grant for
the funding of one of the existing parks to become an accessible park. It
will be important to include people with disabilities in the planning of
this project.
CHAPTER FUNDRAISER
Natalie has come up with the idea of "Mail-In Bingo" as a potential
fundraiser for our chapter.
John raised the idea of having some of the games sponsored, and half of the
amount would go to the game winner, and the rest would go to our chapter.
Some concerns were raised about whether the allocation of money to the
winners would fall into the category of gambling. We need more info about
this.
HOLIDAY PARTY
Since we are all vaccinated and boosted we are ready to schedule a Party.
John and Carolyn have offered to host this at their home on Sunday January
30. We are in agreement that this is a good plan.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
The question was raised, do we want to approach a local radio station to
have them play an NFB announcement which we would create in order to inform
the general public about the organization? We agreed to explore this idea
in more depth.
NEXT MEETING
If people continue to be comfortable with the plan, we will meet next on
Sunday January 30 at John and Carolyn's, for a
Spaghetti Potluck Party.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Utt
