Thank you, Sally!

Also, this is something that I wanted to share at last meeting but forget. When you all as a chapter and the NFB through Jernigan Foundation helped Shawn and I to get to New Orleans, Shawn went to a historic book shop during lunch one day, he bought the book "How The Word Is Passed" by Clint Smith, it's also available on BARD, and read it. When he got accepted into Seattle University of Law, they sent him an email with expectations, and at the bottom, they recommended that everyone entering their university read this book. He did not reference it in his personal statement nor mention it to anyone, he never heard of this book until he walked into that shop and it wasn't even one out on display, it was a random selection by him. When he read this, he showed it to me and that made the trip to New Orleans all that more meaningful to both of us.

He is above the curve of his incoming classmates because everyone in our chapter invested in him. We couldn't make it to Nationals this year because he was in the hospital and has been in and out of doctor visits since. He is largely doing fine now, but we know he is going to need surgery down the road. Hopefully he can have that surgery and recover before next years national conference, and even though I'll be apart of Washington's NFB by that time, I will seek you all out and I am forever grateful of all the support everyone has shown me through these years. Thank you.

PS, go listen to the book. It's a bit rough and I have pause between chapters, but it is a good read.

Kind regards,

Jenn Doran
