Dear friends,

 

Hans Wagner told me that he thought he had successfully posted this invitation to our chapter list. But that post did not come through. So I offered to post it for him. I hope all of you are able to attend this garden party at their Springfield address on August 26 from 5:00 to 9:00.

 

In addition, I’ll see you on the 20th at our chapter meeting, 10:15 a.m.

Hallo Debbie,

 

 

 

As we are preparing to leave our beloved home here in our mutually cherished  Springfield, as we are setting sail to the South Carolina Coast, we would love the chance to say a very heartfelt goodbye and a most sincere Thank You to  many friends and neighbors. As previously mentioned, we would very much like to do that in person, so we would be delighted and honored to have you join us on

 

Friday, August 26 from   5 to 9 pm

 

for drinks and hors d’oeuvres at a casual house and garden party here at Hawthorne Road.     

 

We’d love to share that   inevitably  ambivalent occasion with you, as we have tears in our eyes; those in our left one are tears of sadness to leave behind the place we have called home for 40 years, and with it,  the embrace of so many kind, warm and incredibly impressive people we encountered on our long journey, whom we have cherished - you very much among those. The tears in our right eyes, admittedly, are those of joy and anticipation for that next phase - retirement and leisure - and we can’t imagine a better launch than sharing a final drink and a chat with you here in Ohio, before we  may get a chance to welcome you on a visit to the Low Country.

 

Springfield has been a great place to raise our boys, to establish businesses and to become thoroughly infected by the American Dream. We are eternally grateful to all who made this possible, and will keep a very special place in our hearts. Thanks for the many occasions to spend time with you in the past; let us therefore take advantage of one more of those on 8/26, so please come and join us.
