Branding and ReportsThe NFB pledge and one minute message were read.
Susan moved to approve the minutes as emailed and updated since the meeting, and Arlie seconded. The motion passed.
The treasurers report was read. The ending balance on September 30 was $5,261.78. Aleeha moved to accept the report as read, Pat seconded. The motion passed.
UpdatesIt was decided not to walk in the Hartman Rock Garden this month due to the weather. Kevin Rose, the Clarke County historian, now has a 3D model of the tree of life in the rock garden.
Online state convention registration has been extended to November 15.
Debbie reminded the membership that the fiscal year will now begin on January 1, 2024. After February 1, 2024, your membership will be placed on hold with the national organization if you have not paid your dues.
Unfinished BusinessWe have committed to providing $50 toward door prizes for state convention. Debbie proposed dividing this money among 5 $10 cash prizes.
We discussed the auction basket for convention. Several ideas were suggested, and it was decided to go for a kitchen or date night theme. The goal is to not exceed $225 spent from the treasury. Additional donations are OK.
Debbie explained the Presidents portal, which shows the membership status of all of the members. As an individual, you should have received an email advising you of how to set a password so that you can update your own information.
New BusinessPat spoke with Kyle from the Seniors association, who offered to have a representative from the Federation to speak at one of their luncheons.
Arlie moved, and Susan seconded, to contribute up to $200 per person attending state convention. The motion passed.
Arlie has spoken with someone from Project Jericho, who is a group local to Springfield. This would be an art event to bring awareness of blindness to the Springfield area.
Debbie has filled out the forms with the Secretary of State so that we are registered with a trade name.
The October presidential release was played.
Our next meeting will be Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the main branch of the Clarke County Public Library at 10:30 AM.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Aleeha Dudley, Secretary
National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, Springfield Chapter
Best Wishes,
Aleeha Dudley
