Baker opened the meeting by indicating that Treasurer Crystal McClain was
unable to make the meeting due to illness. 
Vice President Susan Day was also unable to make the meeting due to transportation

moved to approve the Secretary’s Report. Aleeha Dudley seconded the motion.  The motion passed without objection.</span></p>

presented the emailed Treasurer’s report that he received from Crystal McClain.  Todd moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report

Committee Chair Eric Duffy presented the Committee’s recommended slate of
officers for 2023. The Committee recommended: 
President Debbie Baker, Vice President Susan Day, Secretary Aleeha
Dudye, Treasurer Gina Ray. Board Member Arlie Ray.  Committee moved approval of the Committee’s
report. Mickie seconded the motion.  The Nominating
Committee report was approved without objection.  </span></p>

Baker indicated that the elections would take place at the Chapter’s next
meeting October 15, 2022.  </span></p>

Baker reminded members that the October 15, 2022, meeting was moved to 1:30
P.M. due to a Gaier Room scheduling conflict. 
President Baker explained that elections are in October because of
possible holiday events in November and December and because of the anniversary
date of the Chapter. </span></p>

Baker also explained the election procedure. She stated that although the
Nominating Committee Candidates are automatically nominated, members could
still nominate other candidates from the floor during elections.</span></p>

announced that he and Todd are moving to Columbus and joining the Columbus Capital
Chapter.  </span></p>

Convention Update:  Aleeha, Debbie, and
Susan are attending the meeting.  NFB
reimburses at $0.48 per mile.  Room rates
are $104 per night. Eric moved that the Chapter provide $200 per per person for
convention assistance. Mickie seconded. The motion passed without objection.
Convention is November 4, 5, 6, 2022 in Independence (Cleveland) Ohio.</span></p>

Chapter also discussed the planned State Convention boutiques that will feature
tech demonstrations and information. The Chapter also talked about the
possibility of having voting machines at the convention. Todd shared that </span><span class="gmail-Hyperlink0" style="color:blue;text-decoration-line:underline"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><a href="http://www.nfb.org/vote" style="color:blue">www.nfb.org/vote</a></span></span><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> has videos
explaining accessible voting machines, including the Clear Vote machines used
by Clark County.</span></p>

Chapter will host a Mother Stewart’s Fundraiser on November 12, 2022.  President Baker indicated that we would have
live entertainment from Michael Cowan and perhaps J.W. Smith.  Debbie asked if anyone had been able to
obtain items for the silent auction. 
Todd is going to create a flier.  
Debbie will see if there will be food trucks at the event.</span></p>

reminded members to get info to him for the gavel report. This includes info on
what members are doing in the community that are a positive representation of
blindness and blindness skills. </span></p>

is going to make a Facebook page.  </span></p>

Chapter played the chapter version of the Presidential Release. </span></p>

discussed the issues he Eric, and Shelbi Heindel (Capital Chapter) had found at
the Carrilon Historical Park in Dayton. He also discussed the meeting he had
with the museums program manager and curator, who are very interested in making
their exhibits more accessible to the blind.  This lead to a discussion of possible
opportunities to work with the Springfield Heritage Museum. </span></p>

“Don’t Throw the Nickel”. By Dr. Kenneth Jernigan. We discussed the article and
its premise of how sometimes it’s a better opportunity for education and
building relationships to accept help from a sighted person that you might not necessarily
need or even want.</span></p>
