Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Support Group for October 16 at 1:00 PM
Topic: The long white cane, symbol of the blind:
What, when, why and who
October 15 has been designated as "White Cane Awareness Day," in the United
States. We invite you to join us in discussing as much as we can fit into an
hour of discussion about this incredible tool that makes independent travel
possible for many blind and low vision people around the world.
When you connect, you will be in a waiting room and someone will bring you
into the actual meeting. Just hang tight. It is a new Zoom thing and our new
staff person, Tony, handled the technology with total ease and
professionalism.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
