It’s possible that they are sending this announcement to everyone who is over a particular age. I believe I heard somewhere that if you are over a certain age, you would be receiving a ballot.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

The Division of Elections (DOE) would like to inform you of some important upcoming dates relevant to the November 3, 2020 General Election.

*  October 4

Voter registration deadline

*  October 19

Early, absentee in-person and special needs voting begins.
Application period begins to request a ballot by electronic transmission

*  October 24

Deadline to apply for an absentee by-mail ballot

*  November 2

Deadline to apply for a ballot by electronic transmission, 5:00pm AST

*  November 3

General Election Day - Polls open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm

If you want to vote by-mail, DOE encourages you to apply now. You can use the division's paperless online absentee by-mail application <https://absenteeballotapplication.alaska.gov/> or the paper application <https://absenteeballotapplication.alaska.gov/AbsenteeRegistration/RegistrationDetails?haveValidAKDL=false> . There is also a pdf fillable application <https://www.elections.alaska.gov/doc/forms/C06C.pdf> available on the division's website.

DOE recommends you return your ballot as soon as possible. All ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by November 3. State law allows for ballots postmarked within the United States to be received within 10 days following the election and 15 days if postmarked outside of the United States.

DOE is aware there has been a lot of news stories on what information will be provided in relation to candidates' registered party affiliation or political group. The ballot will only list the way the candidate was nominated (i.e., Democratic Nominee, Republican Nominee, or Petition Nominee). If you are interested in learning about a candidate's registered party affiliation or political group, you can find this information on the DOE website candidate page <https://www.elections.alaska.gov/Core/GeneralCandidateList.php> or by reviewing the Official Election Pamphlet when it arrives at your house. Please take the time to get to know your choices before Election Day.

Here is what you can expect to see when voting early or at the polling places on Election Day:

1.	Election officials will be wearing provided PPE, such as facial coverings and gloves.
2.	Hand sanitizer will be available for you to use before checking in, when using voting equipment and upon exiting the polling place.
3.	Facial coverings will be available for you, as well as disposable gloves.
4.	DOE will promote CDC recommended social distancing,
5.	Every effort will be made to space voting booths six feet apart.
6.	Election officials will be disinfecting the voting area throughout the day.

General Election is on Tuesday, November 3. On Election Day, polling places will be open from 7:00am to 8:00pm.

For detailed information about voting, visit the DOE website <https://elections.alaska.gov/> .
