Subject: [NFBofAlaska] Alaska Center for the Blind April Support Groups for April

Greetings Everyone,

I received a couple notes and calls from folks who thought we had a support group this past Wednesday. April is one of those months that can be a bit confusing. The first day occurred on Thursday, and it is easy to think that by Wednesday April 7, we should already be at the second week of the month; But the second Wednesday is tomorrow, on the 14th. Our meeting dates will be the 14th, the 21st and the 28th beginning at 1:00. We are looking forward to having you join to learn, socialize, and share your knowledge!
Currently, we have a presentation from Shauna Jatho who is a nurse educator from the Vanda Pharmaceutical Company. Her topic will be Non24. This is a condition that effects some people with vision loss. Even if you do not have this condition, Shauna's presentation is interesting and will be informative.
I am working on having someone from Public Health in Alaska do a presentation on all things Vaccination and COVID. Stay tuned for more information regarding that topic. For the final support group, I would love to hear from you about something you'd like to have covered! Don't hesitate to call or send me a note expressing your interest. Think about something you have done in the past but no longer do because of vision loss. Other than driving or reading regular print with your eyes, I willing to tackle just about any topic so "Bring it on!"

Here is the Zoom link and the one-tap mobile number. If you would like to have the number as a contact card texted to you, please call Bonnie Lucas at 907-301-6808.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
