Hello Kelsy,

Hey, I apologize, but I’m not going to be able to make it tomorrow short of some miraculous recovery. I came down with COVID this week and have been pretty sick. I’m sorry as I don’t like to cancel on you. I will be thinking of everyone and sending my best from afar. Is there a link I can make a donation to the local chapter? Thanks.

Regards,

Dan

Greetings, NFB family,

in recognition of National Blind Equality Achievement Month, The NFB OF AK is proud to host a series of events to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of blind individuals in our communities.

Frist the state convention on October 3 and 4 at the Anchorage Lion’s Club, 501 North Pine Street, Anchorage, AK

Join us for two exciting days of learning, leadership, and community as we explore the innovative work of the National Federation of the Blind and spotlight voices from across Alaska.

As we continue our celebration and advocacy efforts, we also look ahead to a meaningful annual tradition. Each year on October 15, the National Federation of the Blind proudly celebrates White Cane Awareness Day. This day is dedicated to recognizing the importance of the white cane in the lives of blind individuals. More than just a mobility tool, the white cane represents independence, freedom, and equal access to the world around us.

In honor of White Cane Day this year the NFB of AK will be hosting a white cane walk. come celebrate with us Saturday October 18th at 12:30pm as we gather together at the transit center downtown at 618 H Street and begin an empowered walk to the fifth Avenue mall. There we will continue our inclusive and meaningful stride as we bring awareness to our community. After we loop around the mall, a couple of times feel free to join us in having lunch at Alaskan Burger and Brew just a few minutes from the mall. Please note that you will pay for your individual meal. Remember to dress appropriately for our four-block walk in mid-October. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of these powerful moments of advocacy, education, and community. We look forward to connecting with you at these upcoming events.

Warm regards
Kelsy Tallant, Vice President
