Each year on <b>October 15</b>, the <b>National Federation of the Blind</b> proudly celebrates <b>White Cane Awareness Day. </b>This day is dedicated to recognizing the importance of the white cane in the lives of blind individuals. More than just a mobility tool, the white cane represents <b>independence, freedom, and equal access</b> to the world around us.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-bookmark:_Hlk209970303'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-bookmark:_Hlk209970303'>In honor of White Cane Day this year the NFB of AK will be hosting a white cane walk. come celebrate with us Saturday October 18th at 12:30pm as we gather together at the transit center downtown at 618 H Street and begin an empowered walk to the fifth Avenue mall. There we will continue our inclusive and meaningful stride as we bring awareness to our community. After we loop around the mall, a couple of times feel free to join us in having lunch at Alaskan Burger and Brew just a few minutes from the mall. Please note that you will pay for your individual meal. Remember to dress appropriately for our four-block walk in mid-October.
