Seminars at Hadley Presents: Are We There Yet? Accessible GPS Apps That Help Answer This Question

Date: Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Time: 10:00 AM CDT, 15:00 GMT

Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are now among one of the most commonly used systems for the general public, both in general navigation and in locating points of interest. There are now several GPS options that are accessible to persons with blindness or low vision. These options do not require stand-alone systems or hardware, and many available worldwide.

Join Seminars at Hadley as Hadley instructor Ian Shadrick introduces GPS apps for those with blindness or low vision. This seminar will provide an overview of some of the app-based GPS options available currently, including the advantages and disadvantages, potential uses and intended audiences. This seminar will provide brief audio-based demonstrations.

Doug Anzlovar, dean of Educational Programs and Instruction, will moderate this 60-minute seminar. A question and answer session will be included as part of the seminar.
