Image removed by sender. October 15 is White Cane Safety Day. A person who is blind or visually impaired is provided the legal right of way when crossing an intersection while using a white cane. Also known as Blind Americans Equality Day, White Cane Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of blind individuals as well as recognize this important mobility tool that is critical to independence. The holiday card sale is one of Hadley's longest-running fundraisers, so we're proud to officially kick off the sale on a day that celebrates independence for the blindness community, which is central to Hadley's mission. Sallie Stanley, who created the art for this year's holiday card, dedicates the card to her grandmother, Mimi, and the courage she displayed in adjusting to blindness beginning at age 72. Shown left is a portrait Sallie created of her grandmother Mimi with her white cane.
