September is Healthy Aging Month: Check out the Low Vision Focus @ Hadley

Seminars at Hadley Presents: Diabetes and Your Vision

Date: Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Time: 1:00 PM CDT, 18:00 GMT

The rising number of adults with diabetes has caused great concern among health providers. A workgroup of doctors from a variety of specialties has been assembled by The National Diabetes Education Program to educate patients with diabetes on treatment and prevention.

Join Seminars at Hadley as Dr. Cynthia Heard, a member of this group, talks about diabetes and the progressive effect it can have on vision. Dr. Heard is a doctor of optometry and an associate professor of optometry at Southern College of Optometry. She teaches in the Adult Primary Care and Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation Services with special interest in ocular disease management and optometric care of low vision patients.

Director of the Low Vision Focus @ Hadley Tom McCarville, CVRT, will moderate this 60-minute seminar. A question and answer session will be included as part of the seminar.

This seminar is an audio presentation. Space in this seminar is limited. Please only register if you know you are available to attend so others are not closed out. Register for Diabetes and Your Vision on September 10. <http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=10207074&msgid=737589&act=GE9S&c=225701&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fhadley.edu%2FSeminarDetails.asp%3Fsid%3D247>

Seminars at Hadley Presents: Empowering Paraprofessionals in the Classroom: Confidentiality for Students with Disabilities

Date: Thursday, September 18, 2014

Time: 10:00 AM CDT, 15:00 GMT

Confidentiality of student information is a concern not to be taken lightly. What can be discussed and with whom?

Join Seminars at Hadley as we work with paraprofessionals (professionals also welcome) to understand the confidentiality laws and their responsibilities. Presenter Kim Walker, Hadley instructor, worked for many years in public school and residential settings. She worked with students, staff and parents to ensure that confidentiality for students with disabilities was protected at all times.

Dawn Turco, senior vice president and member of Hadley’s Seminars team, will moderate this 60-minute seminar. A question and answer session will be included as part of the seminar.

This seminar has been approved by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) for earning Continuing Education (CE) Hour(s). (In some cases, approval may be pending at the time the seminar is presented live.)

As always, listening to the seminar remains free of charge. If you wish to go on and earn CE Hour(s), you must also register for 1 CE Hour(s) <http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=10207074&msgid=737589&act=GE9S&c=225701&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fhadley.edu%2FSeminarCE_Register.asp%3Fsid%3D246> and complete a separate registration form and pay U.S. $25 fee. Once registered, you will receive instruction on how to login and take the online quiz to earn your CE Hour(s).
