The Federation Center of the Blind in Columbia is open today but we may
close later this afternoon. There is no water pressure in Columbia and we
are under a boil water advisory for the next four days. If you need to
relay something to us, you can email or call us (803-254-3777). There are
several detours around Columbia due to flooded or washed out roads.
Sections of interstates are closed as well. Rosewood at Garners Ferry Rd.
and Ft. Jackson Blvd. sustained major flooding from Gilles Creek. Also
sections around Decker Blvd. and Forest Dr. at Trenholm Rd. were flooded
yesterday. You may assume flooded areas may have washed out roads or washed
out soil under the roads, especially where creeks or rivers are involved.
Drive carefully and stay out of blocked off areas or flooded areas. A 6 pm
to 6 am curfew was in effect last night and may be extended this evening as
well. Many of the bridges across the Congaree and Saluda Rivers are closed
due to Lake Murray letting off water from the dam.
