$1 NFB LAS VEGAS CONVENTION TICKETS!
$1 Las Vegas NFB 2019 Convention tickets were passed out at
the September 20 Columbia Chapter meeting. If you did not get your 50 pack
or if you need more, contact David Houck at 254-3777. The drawing is set
for Saturday, January 5 at the Statewide Seminar. The winning ticket buyer
will receive $300 and the seller will receive $100. The chapter selling the
most tickets will receive $300 for their treasury. Lets sell these tickets
and be sure your filled out ticket stubs and money are turned in to David
Houck at the Federation Center by January 5, 2019. Buy some for yourself
and you might win $400. Lets not let Columbia lose out on the $300 prize
for the chapter treasury. These funds will help transportation efforts for
those flying from Charlotte, NC to Las Vegas in getting to and from
Charlotte and the Mandalay Bay Hotel. If you need information concerning
flying to Las Vegas at a group rate, contact Tiffiny Mitchell at 603-2098.
OCTOBER 27 STEP IT UP WALK
On Saturday, October 11, the Columbia Chapter will hold a Step
It Up Walk at the Drew Wellness Center at 9:00 a.m. The cost to walk at
least a mile is $20.
NOVEMBER 10 FATZ PANCAKE BREAKFAST
On Saturday, November 10 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. there will be
a pancake breakfast at Fatz restaurant on Forest Drive in Columbia. The
cost is $10 including pancakes and all the fixings. Tickets will be
available soon.
NOVEMBER 22 THANKSGIVING DINNER
The third annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thursday,
November 22, 2018 at the Federation Center located at 119 S. Kilbourne Road,
Columbia, SC, 29201. The time of the dinner will be 2:00 oclock p.m. the
menu consists of: baked turkey, baked chicken, ham, rice and gravy,
dressing, mac and cheese, potato salad, green beans, lima beans, cranberry
sauce, sweet potato soufflé, dinner rolls and sweet potato pie and cake.
Drinks will also be served with meals. The cost of the meal is $15.00 for
adults and $7.00 for children 5 thru 12 years old. If you are planning to
attend this dinner please bring your money to the Columbia chapter meeting
in November. Also, you may call Dorothy Barksdale at 803-765-1622 if you
are planning to attend so that we can get a number of people attending. Ike

OCTOBER 16 COLUMBIA CHAPTER MEETING
President Tiffiny Mitchell gaveled the meeting to order at
6:15 p.m. Steve Cook welcomed everyone attending the meeting and monthly
birthdays and visitors were recognized. David Houck gave the devotional on
the life of Job from Jobs perspective. Lets keep Isaiah Nelson in our
prayers as he recovers from hernia surgery.
There will be a Halloween fellowship at the Federation Center
on Wednesday, October 31 between 5 to 8 p.m. You may come dressed in
costume. Bring a snack to share. The November Columbia Chapter meeting is
now scheduled for Thursday evening, November 15 as The Harvest Church will
be providing the Thanksgiving dinner and message. Jim Jackson reports there
will be a Fred Vercher Memorial gathering at Yesterdays on Monday, October
29 beginning at 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in participating in the
Secret Santa, call Tiffiny Mitchell at 603-2098 by November 8 and give her a
list of three items you might like to receive valued at $15 each. Thom
Spittle announced the Computer Science and Technology Division will be
holding a Shopping Online class scheduled for Saturday, November 10 between
11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call Thom at the Federation Center or email him at
thom3of5 at gmail.com if you are interested in attending. If you are
interested in walking in the Carolina Carollion parade on December 1, please
contact Tiffiny Mitchell at 603-2098 by Thursday, October 25.
Elections were as follows: President, Tiffiny Mitchell; First
Vice President, Steve Cook; Second Vice President, Isaiah Nelson; Dorothy
Barksdale, Secretary; Thom Spittle, Treasurer; Karen Jones, At Large
position 1; Jennifer Bazer, At Large position 2. We want to thank all of
the board members for their service and welcome the leadership of the new
board members who were elected. Kattie Jackson gave four months of the
Treasurers Report as the checkbook had a balance of $1,393.61.
