In the Hadley tradition, the 2018 Braille Holiday Card carries the interior greeting “Wishing you peace, happiness and the spirit of the season” in both print and braille. An original watercolor, this quiet winter scene features a pair of ice skates hanging over a snow-topped wooden fence. Just beyond, a frozen lake reflects the brilliant winter sunset in hues of blue, purple, orange and plum above a tree line of pines in the distance. Snowflakes fall quietly from the sky and, for a tactile effect, one skate has been embossed.

This year’s artwork was created by Hadley learner and professional artist Terri B. Webb, who began to gradually lose her sight in 2004. Today, she continues to paint with her residual sight, and has developed assistive techniques to guide her through her artistic process.
