Below is some information pertaining to Jamie Allison!
Jamie was elected vice-president at the re-organization of the Cherokee
chapter in 2013 and served in this role for a year before stepping in to
fulfill the role of president, when Mr. Milton Tant moved out of Cherokee
county, she has been president since that time. Jamie's first experience of
being an officer in the Cherokee chapter was at the tender age of 12, when
she briefly held the role as chapter secretary before it disbanded. She has
been involved with the NFB of SC and has been a member on and off since late
childhood, but she has been most active since the fall of 2013. Jamie is
currently employed part-time with the NFB of SC Successful Transitions
program, which assists students with blindness in making the transition from
school to post-school, whether that be in the form of work-based learning or
post-secondary exposure and exploration. Jamie is currently single and does
not have children, but she has one fur-baby, Bandit, who lives up to his
name in every way, causing all kinds of mischief and stealing their hearts
in the process! She spends a good deal of time with her parents, aunts,
uncles, and cousins. Jamie would like for the Cherokee chapter to remain
stable, grow in membership, and to reach out to help others in Cherokee
county just as we have benefited from the help of others. The Cherokee
chapter has been interacting with the newly-formed Cherokee county Unified
Lions' Club and has also interacted with the senior centers in our area,
where our meetings are held currently. The Cherokee chapter would like to
increase their outreach effort as they are able to. Jamie stays quite busy
with her hobbies! She enjoys to read, write stories, poetry, and personal
essays and reflections. She is also extremely involved in the visual and
performing arts as a visual artist, musician, and dancer. She is learning
three genres of dance including ballet, clogging, and tap dance.
