Through the use of the American Community Survey, the United States Census
Bureau collects information on the number of people who self-identify as
having a visual disability. The most recent collection of this data is from
2017. The exact criteria used, and the estimated number of blind people in
each state is listed below. We recommend that you use this information in
your presentations to members of Congress during Washington Seminar in order
to create strong, compelling, and educational arguments:

The number of non-institutionalized, male or female, all ages, all races,
regardless of ethnicity, with all education levels in the United States
reported a visual disability in 2017.
