Hi all,
Thank you so much for allowing me to speak at Saturday's meeting. I had to
leave and forgot to leave some of my cards with you all to give to chapter
reps. Please feel free to email them my information and my personal cell
phone number (404-908-6046).
As well, here is a link to the prototype machine being discussed (
<http://www.realsam.com.au/> http://www.realsam.com.au/). Again, they are
in the very early stages of discussion with this type of technology, so we
do not anticipate any new developments on this front within the next few
years. However, the following network libraries will participate in phase 1
of the Braille eReader Pilot Project:
. Iowa Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
. Kentucky Talking Book Library
. New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center
. Utah State Library Division
The four libraries participating in the pilot will receive eReaders for up
to eighty percent of their braille-reading patrons. The twenty-four regional
libraries that maintain braille collections will each receive one device for
testing purposes during the pilot.
Know that we are available to you all whenever you call, and look forward to
empowering your members' educational and leisure reading needs throughout
2020 and beyond.
Very sincerely,
Kristin
