[NFBofSC] A Friend in Need, Can you join me and your fellow members to help?

Hello NFB of SC,

 

On the call last night, I mentioned a need for a fellow blind gentlemen who
was recently released from prison. He called nationals who referred him to
me. At the time, he was living with family in Sumter. Debra Canty and her
chapter graciously has assisted him with a gift card and other food when he
was in her area. Now, he has moved to Hopkins because that situation was not
positive. He called me yesterday and just wants something hot on his stomach
like soup. He mentioned to me earlier that he needed a wheelchair which I
obtained yesterday from the assistive technology project who also has
durable medical equipment. 

 

He wears size 4X

 

42 or 44 in pants; same for belt

13 in shoes

 

He is in need of food and clothes. Numerous members called and texted me
after the meting wanting to help. Members volunteered during the meeting.

 

I am thankful to be a part of an affiliate who wants to help others in need.
I want to thank all of you who have given and plan to give.

I will be taking the wheelchair, some clothes and food today. I will make
another trip as I know many of you plan to send gifts, monetary donations
and in-kind donations.

 

I know you all will work with me together to help this gentlemen get back on
his feet.
