You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams.

Subject: Columbia chapter newsletter
On 02/11/2021 the Columbia Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind
of South Carolina held its monthly meeting via Zoom. President Cook started
the meeting at 6:15 PM. There were 29 of our 64 dues paying members in
attendance. Caylin Bazer led our pledge of Allegiance. Courtney Rone recited
our one minute message, and Shannon Cook gave our NFB Pledge. Jim Jackson
provide our devotional entitle Going Home, The Story of the Prodigal Son.
Our guest speak was none other than our very own Christin White, Director of
Talking Book Services. She gave an awesome speech for black history month,
and ended by asking all of us to help in locating African American Blind
persons in South Carolina who have had an impactful story to tell that can
be added into an oral histoy project that she wishes to put together. Our
financial report, roll, minutes, and birthdays were reviewed. President Cook
outlined the multiple ways members can listen to the presidential report
each month. Our New Member Spotlight this month was Mr. Wendall Price.
President Bazer gave a brief overview of the Washington Seminar. Two
different trivia questions were posed, but no member knew the answers.
President Cook let everyone know that there will be a trivia question next
month that will be pulled from the Presidential Report or the Braille
Monitor.
