[NFBofSC] Updates January 19, 2021 Please Read

I’m the lancaster chapter secretary. Am I supposed to submit notes to you? I’m confused by what you said below. Thanks.

Just a few thoughts and reminders to continue to build, grow, and move forward our affiliate and insure open communication and unity.

If you are a committee chair please insure the committee notes are going to the committee members and copying me. It is great to be able to tell folks what is going on, even if, I cannot be at all meetings.

Let us know if you need help finalizing your membership dues for your chapter or division. Those were due December 31. We have until January 31 to turn them into nationals before they are late. Please get with Steve Cook if you need help completing it online at 803-254-0222 or cookcafe at sc.rr.com

Our membership committee will begin calling those who have not paid their 2021 dues to see how we may assist. The same committee will also be reaching out to those who have signed up for a slate and stylus or white cane through nationals to invite them to become a member and join our NFB of SC family!

Please remember to let David Houck know if you will attend the leadership seminar in person or via zoom on April 10. This is mandatory if you are a chapter or division president, or serve on the Federation, NFB of SC, or Rocky Bottom boards. Anyone else is welcome from anywhere to join us on April 10 from 10 until 4. Please call David Houck at 803-254-3777 to let him know if you will be attending in-person or via zoom. Your name will be entered into at least one $50 gift card drawing if you have registered by April 5, 2021.

If you are a chapter or division president, it is imperative that you have regular meetings, usually, that will be once per month. Notes must accompany these meetings submitted by the secretary. If you have not had a meeting in over a month, please insure those meetings are resumed in February at the very latest. I have noticed that folks are not having regular meetings. This is not acceptable since we can use zoom. Thank you for your prompt attention and action on this matter.

If you are part of a committee, please make every effort to attend the meetings. As leaders, we need to lead by example. If you cannot attend a committee meeting or if you missed if for whatever reason as we know things happen and come up, please get with the chair person.

Same goes for committee chair persons, if you notice committee members did not attend, please check on our fellow family. We are reaching out, to insure they are ok, maybe, they forgot, maybe, something came up, maybe, they are not interested anymore. Let’s find out please.

Once membership is in, we will begin our new member orientation in February. If you are willing to be a mentor, please email me at jhipp25 at sc.rr.com or text or call me at 803-960-9977 to let me know why the NFB of SC needs you as a mentor.

Also, I wanted to let you know that SC is getting noticed nationally again with our zoom events, Positive Note, social media and so much more. I have received numerous calls, texts, and email messages about our affiliate. Thank you all for putting NFB of SC back on the map as a strong affiliate. It is all of us working together, in unity, that makes this happen. Thank you all for all you do! I appreciate each one of you!
