You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.

On September 9th, 2021, the Columbia chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina held its monthly meeting.
Highlights from this months meeting included: a moment of silence to remember 09/11 and Lisa Best’s personal story of that day, voting in of 2 new members, Jerry Johnson and Cynthia Wolfe, the announcement that the Center chairs are being recovered, and a trivia question and
50/50 drawing. We were treated to a devotion by Casey rose, prayer by Frank Coppel, and recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance, and One Minute Message. Members were reminded that October is election month.
There will be no nominating committee. The meeting will be hybrid, but the Zoom will be locked down to all but dues paying members because of voting. Members were also reminded to help Rocky Bottom by selling tickets and donating auction items. Congratulations to Carolyn Phillips for winning the 50/50 drawing and to Pat Wolthoff for winning a talking watch that was also drawn for. The trivia question was “What is the new name for Meet The Blind Month”? The answer is Blind equality and Achievement Month. Members were unable to answer this question, so no prize was awarded this month. Lastly, but very important, the date for October’s meeting has changed. The October meeting will be held on October 7th at 6:15 in person or on Zoom! We look forward to seeing you then!
Sincerely,
Tracy Spittle
