[NFBofSC] SC Association of Black Leaders

Good evening everyone,

I am sending this message out to inform the affiliate of the results from
the Sc Association of Black Leaders division meeting from last night.

During the meeting held on Wednesday, November 9th the members of the SC
Association of Black Leaders voted on and passed a constitution for the
division. The constitution along with a list of the division's members will
be sent to President McKenzie shortly. The constitution will then be voted
on by the NFB of SC state board.

Also, during last night's meeting elections were held to fill the 5
positions on the division's board. The results of the elections are as
follows

President: Derique Simon

1st Vice President: Kristopher Crawley

2nd Vice President: Gregory Jones

Secretary/Treasurer: Andrew Adams

At Large Board Member: Janice Bright

Congratulations to the new board and thanks to all who participated.

More information about the next meeting and plans for the division will be
provided after the constitution has been voted on by the NFB of SC state
board and we are aware of the result.

If you are interested in becoming a member of this new division dues are $10
a year. You can pay your dues by visiting the  <https://nfbofsc.org/donateF>
donations page of our website, or by mailing a check to the Federation
Center at 119 S Kilbourne Rd Columbia, SC 29205. It is important to note
that this payment is for membership dues for the SC Association of Black
Leaders, or it will be treated as a general donation to the NFB of SC.

Please keep in mind that to become a member you must be a dues paying member
of the NFB of SC.

 

I would like to personally thank Derique Simon for encouraging the creation
of the division, Elizabeth Rouse and Shannon Cook for reviewing and
suggesting edits to the constitution, and Andrew Adams for his thoughts and
advice. Thanks also to Steve Cook for reading through the lengthy
constitution, Shannon for running elections, the board for the courage to
serve, and all those who participated in these efforts.

We hope to see this division grow and do big things in the future.
