Upcoming Events in Blind Equality Achievement Month: Join Us for the Presidential Release and More!


October is Blind Equality Achievement Month, and outreach activities are happening across the country. Here are a few upcoming events throughout the month.


October 1: Presidential Release LIVE in Mississippi


Brought to you live from the home of the Jackson Chapter of the NFB of Mississippi, next month’s Presidential Release LIVE will be this Saturday, October 1, 5:00 p.m., Eastern. October 4: Office 365 Suite Accessibility Boutique


2:00 -3:30 p.m., Eastern, via Zoom
The National Federation of the Blind in partnership with the Maryland Department of Disabilities invites you to attend the Office 365 Suite Accessibility Boutique. Learn about the features of Microsoft’s online Office 365 Suite and its accessibility for blind and low-vision users. The Boutique will focus on Office 365’s Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications. October 6: Career Fair Fearless Job Interview Part 1


7:00 p.m., Eastern, via Zoom | Duration: 1.5 Hours
In the first seminar of this series, job seekers will be given helpful information on job search strategies, an overview on how to break down an actual job description to customize the resume and cover letter and develop effective interview communication, and an interactive segment on how to create an elevator pitch which can be easily modified to answer the tricky question “Tell Me About Yourself” often used in the beginning of a job interview. October 13: Career Fair Fearless Job Interview Part 2


7:00 p.m., Eastern, via Zoom | Duration: 1.5 Hours
Join this virtual event that will cover the dos and don’ts of business communication, suggestions on what to do with the connections you make, even if the job opportunity is not right for you, and an interactive crash course on Zoom etiquette. Attendees will get the opportunity to check their camera and practice using Zoom commands. October 15: White Cane Awareness Day


On White Cane Awareness Day, and throughout October, members of the NFB conduct activities in their local communities such as white cane walks, film screenings, and social events.
