Subject: Legislative and Advocacy Committee Call to Action!
Good evening, all!
As discussed on tonight's Legislative and Advocacy Committee call, the
Websites and Software Applications Accessibility Act (S. 4998/H.R. 9021) has
recently been introduced in both the House of Representatives and the Senate
at a national level. It is now our responsibility to gather support for
these bills in the state of South Carolina.
Below, you will see a mock message that you can modify to send to your
Senators and Representatives. If you would like help completing this task,
reach out to myself, Anna Price, or Ed Bible. Please also remember to copy
Jeff Kaloc (jkaloc at nfb.org <mailto:jkaloc at nfb.org> ) from our national
office on your written communications. Contact info for each of South
Carolina's Congressional members is at the bottom of this message.
Hello,
My name is [YOUR NAME], and I am a constituent of [SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE
NAME]. I live in [CITY,] South Carolina.
I would like to urge [SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to cosponsor the Websites
and Software Applications Accessibility Act, [S. 4998/H.R. 9021]. This
legislation would ensure that blind and disabled Americans can have the same
opportunity to independently access websites and applications as our
non-disabled peers.
[Share a story/experience that includes a time in which you faced
inaccessibility in the realm of websites and/or applications.]
Thank you for your consideration regarding this matter,
[YOUR NAME]
