[NFBofSC] September Presidential Release

 Hi Steve and all,
Miss Ruth from New Jersey here again. Here in New Jersey, at the request of our affiliate President, Linda Melendez, our Central Jersey Chapter has been sharing the chapter (shorter) version of the Presidential Release at our meetings for the last few months.
The way we do it is that I copy the recording from the NFB website where the recordings are located, then I have the recorded MP3 ready on my desktop, and when the Central Jersey Chapter President, Mac Biggers, says the word, I share the audio and run the recording. It can last half an hour or more, so it's hard to say who's listening during the meeting, and also, we run a hybrid meeting. I run the Zoom room part of it, and Mac runs the in-person part.
Prior to that, the moderator would ask if anyone wanted to share highlights from the Presidential Release, and there weren't many who had actually listened to it, so we adopted this approach going forward.
Take good care,
Miss Ruth

Good Morning SC,

The Ohio Affiliate had our first group that participated listening to the Presidential Release as a group this past week. We use the invite feature in Zoom to assist members who do not have the ability to call into the platform. However, others got in just fine.

We had around 22 members attend; witch was great, because they would not have been able to listen otherwise.

Ohio had the members come in muted so that noise would not interrupt the program.

I hope this helps.

Suzanne

Hi Kris,

They just started this month and it is for the whole affiliate. We could definitely try it an see how the turn out is! They also have a condensed version of the Presidential Release that Chapter Presidents can play at meetings.

Hey Steve,

How long have they been doing this and how has it been received? I know that national recommends that we play portions of the release at chapter meetings. Does Ohio do it for their affiliate as a whole, or on the chapter level?

What do you think about SC doing this in the future?

Sincerely,

Kristopher I. Crawley

Hey federation family,

If you missed it, you can click on the link below to view the September presidential release that aired yesterday.

September Presidential Release

I was thinking (and that can be good or bad depending on your perspective lol) that it could prove beneficial to make this a monthly gathering where we watch and discuss the presidential release. I think this could be a good way for us to not only become educated, but reconnect with national and the movement as a whole.

Just a thought.

Sincerely,

Kristopher I. Crawley
