Greetings, 

 

The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

 



 

The purpose of this research study is to learn about how people with disabilities use smart speakers and understand the benefits and challenges you experience. The findings will help develop training materials and improve smart speaker functions.

 


You May Qualify If You Are:


•     18 years of age or older

•     Self-reporting using a smart speaker at least 3 times per week

•     Self-report of presently living with a physical disability, low-vision or blindness, or mild cognitive disability.

•     Score of 18 or higher on the MiniMental State Exam OR score of 12-22 on MMSE Blind

•     Live in a community-based setting


Participation Involves


1.    Complete a demographic survey and a questionnaire about your experiences using a smart speaker.

2.    Engage in a focus group (no more than 90 minutes) with other participants to discuss your thoughts and ideas relative to using your smart speaker in day-to-day life.

 


Location


Focus groups sessions will occur either via Zoom (video or audio) or in person at a mutually agreed setting familiar to participants and/or the study team

 


Compensation


You will be compensated $25 for your participation in this study
