[NFBofSC] Cherokee chapter news

NFB SC Cherokee had a wonderful bit of news! We participated in the Gaffney Christmas parade during the first weekend in December. There was a super hero theme and pie entry was entitled “captain Opportunity and the white cane crusaders” and we are proud to announce that our entry received 3rd place in a contest held to determine which entries were most creative. The chapter received $100 for their award.  Captain Opportunity (otherwise known as faithful Cherokee member, James Byers), made a special appearance at the Anderson chapter Christmas Banquet as well to spread the message that la j of eyesight does not have to mean lack of opportunity. We wanted to share this with our affiliate family to encourage everyone to consider  as to how you can participate in your local community.
