Subject: [NFBofSC] Thanks SC Affiliate

Good afternoon,
I wanted to inform everyone that I would be leaving the SC affiliate as I am moving from South Carolina.
My time in the SC affiliate has been up and down to say the least. There have been a lot of positives and this affiliate has much potential, but considering the discrimination and other issues have experienced, there is a lot of work to be done.
As I have always said, as members of the SC affiliate, you deserve to know what your leaders have been up to, that is the only way they can be held accountable. Advocating for more open board meetings, pushing for the other boards of the federation to be more transparent in their meetings and announcing elections, and asking for hybrid options both for meetings and elections are important issues to keep in mind. Also, if you are unable to attend in-person events, you are just as valuable as those who are able to attend in person. If this organization can accept your financial contributions virtually, it should also accept your participation on every level virtually.
It was such an honor for me to attend the NFB of SC's State Convention last year, and even more of an honor for me to receive your support for an at large board position. You are always welcome to reach out to me any time, and I am willing to serve as long as needed.
I want to thank a few people who made my time in the affiliate manageable.
Elizabeth Rouse and Anna Price are 2 of the best friends a person could have. They have always supported me, and I could never repay what they have done for me. Seriously, I don't know what I would do without them.
Steve and Shannon Cook were the ones who brought me to the SC affiliate. The 2 hardest working people in the NFB of SC always made themselves available for me when I had questions or concerns. They are not appreciated enough. I feel that sometimes Steve and Shannon's willingness to help out is not just underappreciated, but expected and we should all take more time in thanking them, and others who give their time to our movement.
Andrew Adams for always brightening up my day. The brother works so hard behind the scenes. His drive and passion will make him an even more important piece of the Sc affiliate's success in the future.
My brother Derique Simon who convinced me to stay in the affiliate and run for a board position when I was ready to take my ball and go home.

Thanks to everyone for this experience, and again, if I can support you in any way please reach out, I am here to help.

Sincerely,

Kristopher I. Crawley
