The Long White Cane—An Essential Tool of Freedom for the Blind

The long white cane helps blind people across the globe navigate confidently and independently through their communities. Our Free White Cane program provides canes for blind people of all ages. Here’s what the parent of one of our youngest recipients shared about receiving a first cane:

We love the new canes! My youngest has been wanting a cane like her older sister’s for some time now. My husband cut the tube that the canes came in and Julia decorated her new cane. We are now learning how to sweep the cane side to side and walk with it. Thank you so much!
