Dear Federation Family,
The Presidential Release on August 1, 2024 provided a great deal of
information for NFB members across the country. I was reminded that I never
published a final number of registered members from South Carolina for the
national convention. The National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina
had 91 individuals registered for the national convention in Orlando,
Florida! This is a terrific number and we can be proud of our representation
there.
Excitement around the NFB of SC State Convention continues to grow as people
continue to register after the early bird date has passed. I appreciate all
of those who are assisting registrants with getting the registration form
completed online as not all of our attendees have access to computers,
tablets and the internet. We use an electronic registration process because
it is the most accessible way for blind people to complete the process in an
efficient manner. If you need assistance, please reach out to me and someone
will assist you.
Beginning Friday, July 26, 2024, regular registration is $100, student
registration is $60 and children under the age of 18 is $30. If you have not
registered for this event, please do so at https://nfbofsc.org/node/178.
In preparation for the memorial service at the state convention, please send
the names of any members in your chapter or division who passed since the
last state convention. Please send names to Melinda Jones at
melindajones0571 at gmail.com <mailto:melindajones0571 at gmail.com> or call her
at 864-978-3230.
Palmetto Connects will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 7:00 to
8:00 p.m. on the NFB of SC Zoom platform. There will be information about
the state convention and other announcements shared at this event. To join
by phone, dial 929-205-6099 and enter Meeting ID 803 254 3777. If you are
using a computer or tablet, use the Join button in the Zoom app and enter
the Meeting ID 803 254 3777. The passcode is 124578.
