Good Morning, Sunrise and Shine Family, 

As most of you are aware, we try to hold our wonderful Sunrise and Shine with NFB-NEWSLINE® Zoom calls on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. With that being said, my calendar tells me it’s time to gather together this Thursday, August 8th at 9:00 AM, (EST). Now that we’ve established the “when and where”, part of our upcoming call, let’s talk about what our topic on Thursday can be, 

One important item I’m going to review with everyone will be the new login protocols for the Social Security Administration. You may have heard about the transition taking place from the old, “My SSA” online access system to a more recent login.gov access portal. Having current and accurate information about your Social Security benefits is truly vital and getting to the information is actually pretty easy. Sherri Brun has agreed to pitch in on Thursday and fill in some of the blanks. I’m grateful for the help Sherri.

The rest of our call will feel a bit like a, “throw back Thursday”. We used to have occasional calls where we just shared with one another, how things were going. There’s been lots to talk about this Summer, like vacations we’ve been on, conventions we’ve attended, fun hobbies and activities we’ve taken up and hurricanes we’ve survived.

So now you know the”, “what”: for our call, but what about the “who”? Well, the “who”, is you! If it weren’t for loyal ‘Rise and Shine family members like you, there would be no point at all in holding the Zoom get-togethers. I am so appreciative to all of the folks who’ve signed onto the calls for more than four years now, even the folks who only came a time or two. I would like to ask for a small favor though. Please take the time to share the information about Sunrise and Shine with your friends and family. Attendees don’t have to be blind or low vision and they certainly don’t have to live in Florida, (or even the US for that matter). I would very much like our calls to continue to grow and to share our wonderful gatherings with others. 

If you haven’t been to one of our calls before, joining us at 9:00 AM for coffee or tea will give you a chance to find out what you’ve been missing. We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and for lots of warmth and laughter.

Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the Zoom platform over the past few years and in fact, we’ve been using Zoom since we launched Rise and Shine way back on April 16th2020. If you’re not used to using Zoom or if it’s still giving you difficulties, don’t give up just yet. The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to see new faces.
