Dear Federation Family,
The convention is one week behind us and we now turn to post convention
activities. I am currently working on committee assignments with no promise
of when they will be ready. If you currently chair or serve on a committee
and you no longer wish to do so, please reach out to me. While some folks
will likely move among committees this year, I want to ensure that people
are named who will actively participate in committee meetings. There is a
huge amount of work done by our committees and we need individuals who will
step up to the plate and work hard for the committees that interest them.
The Presidential Release is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3,
2024. You are encouraged to attend the monthly informative gathering of
Federationist from across the country. The phone number is 929-205-6099 and
the Zoom meeting ID is 913 3339 9714.
Due to the Presidential Release occurring on September 3, 2024, we will move
the Palmetto Connects meeting to September 10, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.
I am happy to share information from the Federation family in the weekly
Positive Note. After working with the Positive Note for two years now, I
understand that brevity is very important and I work hard to keep it at two
pages. That is not always possible however. When you prepare announcements
for the Positive Note, please confine them to one paragraph of approximately
100 words or less. I appreciate your assistance with this request.
Aleena Hamlin is a 2024 NFB of SC Scholarship winner. Because her classes
began in early August, she was not present at the state convention. Here is
a note of appreciation from Aleena.
Hello, my name is Aleena Hamlin. I'm 17 years old and was born with a
genetic condition called Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 2. I'm currently
attending the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, pursuing a major in
Computer Science. After graduating from the South Carolina School for the
Deaf and the Blind, I set my sights on earning a bachelor's degree in
Computer Science. My ultimate goal is to work as a web developer or secure a
position with NASA.
I am incredibly grateful and honored to receive this scholarship. I want to
express my deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this
award possible. This scholarship is not just a financial boost; it's a
powerful reminder that there are people who believe in me and my potential
to achieve my goals.
With this support, I am more motivated than ever to excel in my studies at
the University of Alabama, confident that with determination, I can
accomplish anything I set my mind to. Thank you so much for investing in my
future and helping me take another step closer to achieving my dreams.

it if as many people as possible can make it so we can finalize the number
