Positive Note 2038
Dear Federation Family,
Labor Day is a national holiday in the United States that honors the
contributions and achievements of American workers. The first Labor Day was
celebrated on September 5, 1882, in New York City, organized by the Central
Labor Union as a day to recognize the labor movement and its role in
improving working conditions. In 1894, following years of growing support
for workers' rights, President Grover Cleveland signed the holiday into law,
making Labor Day a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday in
September. Its purpose is to pay tribute to the strength, dignity, and
economic contributions of workers while also marking the unofficial end of
summer.
The next Palmetto Connects is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at

Loza! The phone number is 929-205-6099 and the meeting ID is 803 254 3777#.
If you are using the Zoom app on your computer, phone or tablet, activate
the Join button and enter the above meeting ID without the # sign. The

to participate in this monthly meeting so that we can improve our
attendance.
Donated Services Reminder
Just a reminder to turn in your donated services forms at
https://nfb.org/get-involved/donated-services-form. If you are participating
in this effort, please remember that these are due monthly. The National
Office is tracking fewer hours this year than last, and this impacts the
annual financials, which influence donors. Please take a few minutes to
follow up. Questions can be directed to Belinda Hooks at 410-659-9314
extension 2508.
National Convention Highlights
Thanks again to our members, sponsors, exhibitors, and everyone who made
#NFB25 a success. Access the 2025 National Convention highlights at

Secure Continued Access to the National Library Service for the Blind and
Print Disabled for Blind Children
According to NLS Operations Alert No. 25-73, effective December 31, 2025,
accounts for patrons under the age of eighteen without a completed parental
acknowledgment will be suspended. To ensure uninterrupted access to library
resources, parents are encouraged to contact their local Talking Book
Library as soon as possible to complete the acknowledgment process.
I am working on committee assignments. If you have an interest in a
particular committee or if you wish to be removed from a committee, please
e-mail me at president at nfbofsc.org <mailto:president at nfbofsc.org> or call
or text me at 843-939-8091.
Blindness Equality Achievement Month
October is recognized as Blindness Equality Achievement Month and it is time
to plan. Please share your events with me so that I can aggregate this
information. We also share with the National Office as well.
