Subject: [NFB-Legislative-Directors] Update Regarding Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act

Dear Affiliate Legislative Directors,

Hope all that attended the 2025 National Convention enjoyed their experiences in New Orleans. We wanted to let you know about the great legislative news we have regarding the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act (TCIEA). On July 24, the TCIEA was introduced in the Senate as S. 2438 by Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) with three originating cosponsors: Senators Steve Daines (R-MT), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). Then, on July 25 a companion bill was introduced in the House of Representatives as H.R. 4771 by Representative Bobby Scott (D-VA-3) with one originating cosponsor: Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX-17). We plan to send out a legislative alert on this topic later this week, but wanted to make you aware of these developments.

It's time to reach out to our Senators and Representatives to build the cosponsors for S. 2438 and H.R. 4771.

Thanks for all you do to build the Federation and advocate for priorities impacting blind Americans!

Justin
