Subject: [Nfbnet-members-list] Information regarding NFBnet Delivery of Emails
Critical Update Regarding NFBnet and Microsoft Mail Services
The National Federation of the Blind is actively engaged in resolving issues with NFBnet, our longstanding communication and hosting platform. This update is to keep our members informed.
The most urgent concern is the delivery of email to Microsoft-related mail services which include Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, MSN.com, and Live Mail. There may also be problems with other non-Microsoft services, such as AOL or Yahoo, as Microsoft processes mail for others.
Unfortunately, people with any of these e-mail addresses are not currently receiving any mail from NFBnet. We are under a high-frequency subscription attack, which has caused our mail queue to balloon alarmingly. We are taking steps to mitigate the problems, but it takes time. As of now, Microsoft has blocked us and will not reverse this situation until our technical situation improves.
If you have friends who have Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, MSN.com, or Live Mail addresses please tell them about this situation, and that we are working diligently to improve the situation and get the Microsoft block removed. Once it is removed, normal mail delivery should resume.
Lastly, you may be aware that NFBnet experienced other errors recently such as subscribing to lists, messages that were gibberish, and extraneous characters in messages. Most of those issues have been resolved—not all—but they are not related to the mail delivery issue. The system remains functional at this time, and we continue to work diligently to improve it.
We are committed to maintaining strong, accessible communication channels that empower every member of our chapters, divisions, and affiliates to stay informed and engaged. Thank you for understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing.
If you have any questions or information to share regarding NFBnet, please contact David Andrews at david.andrews at nfbnet.org <mailto:david.andrews at nfbnet.org> .
