Positive Note 2049
Dear Federation Family,
The Braille Monitor is the National Federation of the Blind's flagship
publication and is currently edited by Chris Danielsen, a long-time
Federationist who is from South Carolina. In the November edition of this
publication, Chris Danielsen wrote an article titled "United States
Department of Justice Sues Uber for $125 Million." The article is a
culmination of many years of advocacy on behalf of multiple organizations.
Also featured in the November issue is "Graduating from the Colorado Center
for the Blind Means More Than Skills" by Jeremy Smith. This is an excellent
read which underscores the impact of NFB philosophy on the lives of blind
people today. I encourage you to read these articles as well as the entire
edition.
We extend our appreciation to Harold and Olivia Anderson on the success of
the Car Show held on October 4, 2025 to benefit Rocky Bottom Retreat and
Conference Center of the Blind. Harold, Olivia and family partnered with a
local BBQ establishment to benefit the camp. Each car paid an entry fee of
$20, there was a 50/50 raffle and sponsored donated items that were
auctioned. The total raised was $1,900 for RBRCCB. Thanks Andersons for a
job well done!
The Rock Hill Chapter spent the first full week of November at the camp and
our Good Samaritan, John Culick, was on hand to work on the grounds. Each
year for many years, John spends this week working on whatever needs to be
done that he can accomplish while he is there. The camp benefits as he and
the rest of the chapter work to get ready for the Annual Board Retreat.
Thanks to John and the entire Rock Hill Chapter for all you do!
