Dear Federation Family,

 

It is one year later and the potential for a tropical storm/hurricane again
exists for South Carolina. Hurricane Helene was an historic storm taking a
path that no hurricane traveled in the past. The damage total in the
billions of dollars. As we wait to see what will happen, let us keep a
careful check on our blind brothers and sisters. Several posts have appeared
on Facebook recently that communicated a very important message, Each person
matters; each person deserves to be seen; no person should be belittled or
diminished in any way. Let us take care of each other during difficult
times!

 

Congratulations to President Michelle Scott of the Charleston Chapter. She
was the first chapter president to submit their BEAM events to me for
publication. Please see below.

 

Charleston Chapter 2025 Blind Equality Achievement Month Events

TALENT SHOWCASE 

Charleston Chapter presents it's 2nd annual Talent Showcase. The Showcase is
an inspiring event that highlights exceptional singing  performances by
blind & low-Vision individuals 

Date: 10/4/25 Time: 4-7 PM Admission: $15 or 2/$25 Kids $10

Food: Heavy Hors d'oeuvres, dessert and drinks 

Location: Calvary Lutheran Church, 1400 Manor Blvd., Charleston SC 29407.

 

Charleston Chapter White Cane  Awareness Day Walk

Date: October 11, 2025  Time: 11-1 p.m. Location: Marion Square

Senior Camp is scheduled for the first full week in October, 2025. We are
excited to have this project back. However, they are in need of a registered
nurse or licensed practical nurse. If you know someone or can assist here,
please contact Frank Loza at 803-617-8016.

 

Blind Equality Achievement Month

October is recognized as Blind Equality Achievement Month, a time to remind
others that blind people can live the lives we want.  Is your chapter or
division planning activities? Please share your events with me so that I can
aggregate this information for our affiliate and the national office

The Clarendon Chapter of the NFB of SC is selling tickets on a beautiful
braille afghan made and donated by Glenda Culick. It will cover a queen
sized bed and is done in hunter green and white. Tickets are $5 each or
three for $10. Contact Marty McKenzie or any member of the Clarendon
Chapter. The drawing will take place at the Annual Board Retreat on
Saturday, November 22, 2025.

The Rock Hill Chapter is selling tickets on a beautiful hand-made quilt
quilted by Ms. Pearline Barber. Tickets are one for $5 or three for $10.

Rock Hill Chapter members to get your tickets. The drawing will take place
on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the chapter meeting.
